Been searching around a little bit and decided to see if i can get a couple answers here.

i have a 96 OHV explorer that im building to race in some of the local desert racing series'. Id like to get by with keeping my OHV and just using a c4. Im looking at options including a mild all motor build, a turbo build, or even an SC. Since the trans will not be the weak point im curious as to the best way to get a decent amount of power from the OHV. Honestly id be happy with around 180-190 rwhp with a nice linear hp and torque curve. Any suggestions on how to reach that goal?

I've done it...but with a Manual they don't rob nearly as much power as an Auto.

Modified Throttle Body (Throttle Shaft mod)
Intake Spacer (Custom Built)
2.5" Cat Back Exhaust w/ Edelbrock RPM Muffler (disco'd now...but is the best design I've ever used)
422 Cam
Underdrive Pulley
Mild Porting of the Intakes, and heads.
5.0L MAF body
iFab intake tube

If you build your own Spacer, Modify your own TB, and port your own heads, You can have this all done for about $1,000

You were first on my list of people to call for the parts. Alot of these guys in the desert scene run the 4.0 ohv or sohc so it might be some good advertisement for you if you want me to run some stickers when i race...
