Browse this site and use the search feature. That's your best bet. A starting point that often gets mentioned is replacing your stock exhaust with a new catback system, putting an an air intake and installing a chip (Apten, Superchips etc). I went that route and and glad I did. Another very useful mod is to replace the wimpy rear swaybar with an Explorer Express bar. These 4 mods alone have made me fall in love with my X again.

You could screw the 4.0 and install a 302...

Explorer Express makes (or is about to) a supercharger for the SOHC.

yeah i know i could but i want to do up the original 4.0 sohc motor it is more of a challange to me so please name some parts for this motor such as headers,cams,rochers,ect....

The 2nd and 3rd posts have the stuff that you should start out with. Then you can look for the stuff you listed.

First of all make absolutly sure the timeing chain tensioner recall has been taken care of (Go to the Ford dealership and make them show it to you on their computer) mileage is not really an issue because they extended the warranty on this issue to like 75k or 100k something like that. Also, Apten_us.com is a great place to go get you a custom chip. Also, if you get dual exhaust like I just did (18" glass packs) if you can stand the cab noise but to me it really isn't that bad. I just stuck with the 2". You might can get a shop to put 2 1/4" but I was told that 2 1/2" just really wasn't going to fit. Also high flow cats. (I don't have those I just have the dual exhaust and high flow intake). I just want a chip now and I am happy. Also, synthetic oil is a big plus. If money really really isn't an option get one of the new $2,000 superchargers. I am told they are worth the money and will come with a chip you can get one from explorer express.com
