I'm sorry for always coming on here and asking these swap questions without much searching first but I don't have much time at the computer.

background:

What I got is a 99 ford explorer xls with the 4.0 auto 4x4. 215,000 miles getting antifreeze in oil.

I found a 98 explorer sport with sohc 4.0 also 4x4.

With the entire vehicle would this be a very hard swap. And the 98 parts truck is missing the keys, is this a big deal?

Thanks much.

Ford never produced a DOHC 4.0 in the US, the only 4.0 they currently offer is the SOHC.

Ya sorry had something else on the brain. sohc

It wouldnt be a difficult swap but it would be a bit time consuming as the electronics (I believe) would need to be changed out too.

might ad well do the v8 swap. Same amount of trouble.

But if you really want the sohc. You'll have to swap the PCM and wiring harmesses. I think everything else should line up.
