4.0L ENGINE DIFFERENCE

Hello I am a new explorer owner 2001 explorer sport 2 door 2 wheel drive. Engine is toast I have found a 08/99 explorer 4.0l with low miles will the engine interchange? at least the short block?

Is it a SOHC? They used OHV and SOHC both in those years and they aren't interchangeable.

it is a sohc yes

Short blocks is definitely interchangeable. There may be differences in wiring connectors and sensors on the long block, so you might have to transfer over some stuff from your old engine. Don't get rid of the old engine until the job is done.

That's fine I have done many swaps over the years and had to change over lots but I can get the whole truck with the 58k original mileage engine for $350 just was hit hard in the back end. thanks all for the answers
