On my way home from work the day before Thanksgiving my '98 X with the 4.0L SOHC engine made a PHFTT sound and the engine died (literally). After trying to restart it unsuccessfully I had it towed to the Ford dealership. The engine has 67,000 mi. on it. They said they will ask the Boss (Ford Motor Co) to replace the engine rather than take it apart and repair it. What I would like to know is if any of you guys and gals have had a similar experience. Any response will be appreciated. Thank You
