Decided to do a re-ring job on my 2006 Explorer due to rear timing chain failure. Anyway this is my first project on this engine and this site has saved me many hours of frustration. IT is a fantastic site! Now my issue for the project.
1. Was able to get all parts except the elusive connecting rod bolts and nuts. Finally bought the bolts from the dealer, $4.00 a piece for the bolts, but they want $20.00 for each nut! Even online the best price I can find is $17.00 each. I know you have to replace the bolts, TTY, but can you reuse the nuts? Also are others having the big end of the rods resized?
Thanks again to all who actively answer our questionsa, I know it takes time!
