4.0L Sputters around 3,000 RPM

My 1997 4 door XLT 4.0 L V6 Has been running strong ever since I got it ... Now with 118,000 miles on her she is starting to sputter and cut out around 2,800 - 3,300 rpm ... Where sould I start ? Fuel filter? Or would a PVC valve or EGR valve do it? It idles fine and runs strong at full throttle ... Never dies or backfires or anything ...

Clean the Mass Airflow sensor.

Do a search on the site, tons of posts regarding on how to clean it.

My 96 was studdering around 1500-2500 and it also had flat spots during accel.

I did the cleaning of the MAS, and now it runs butter smooth.

I'd try that first. (it's a free fix)

I read some one this ... If I just unhook the hose from the MAF (on the air cleaner side) Can't I spray or clean them that way .. Or do I have to take it all the way off ?
