aftermarket timing chain components
One member purchased an inexpensive rear hydraulic tensioner on eBay. He tested it manually before installing it. It seized immediately on engine start and caused his rear guide to break. He had to pull the engine to replace the rear cassette. Other members have purchased inexpensive kits. The chains appeared to be OK but the guides were warped and/or very thin. I would only purchase Ford or Cloyes timing kits. A Cloyes engineer assured me that the guides in their kits were manufactured by the same company that provides them to Ford. I think it is foolish to save some money on the guides or tensioners when their failure can result in valve damage or require pulling the engine. I advise you to ask the seller who manufactures the cassette guides and hydraulic tensioners. If the seller won't disclose the manufacturer then you probably should be wary.
