Does anyone have a clue about what a good box design wood be for 4-12" subs. I don't think I have much of a choice with the limited cargo area, but I would like to see everyones opinion.

Heres one that you would be able to put all 4 subs on the top, facing up, you could also put two facing the hatch, and two facing up...

i made my own custom box for 4 12's which was only 12 inches deep but 54' long pm me for pics and measurments. Oh and its for sale also.

I had the same idea as you woody. I wanted to make use of the cargo cover. I also wanted to make some sort of cheap amp rack in the remaining space of the cargo area, but not all the way up to the same level of the box. Any more suggestions?

As I recall (when I had my X) that the cargo cover will work with with anything >15 to 17 inches...So you can make the subs facing the hatch (at max 3 subs will fit) or you can do two up, and two facing the hatch, or all facing up. Also, how big is your amp...dimentions? I will come up with some pic, but need to know how big your amp is, and are you mounting anything else? Like cap, disto boxs, etc?...

I think I will go with the four facing up. I'm still working all of this out. I need warm weather to begin building a box. I have no clue about my amp dimensions and nothing else is being mounted. All will be hidden.

Well 4 up would do fine, your amp could be mounted on the box, facing the back seats. Heres another option of 4 up, this would be a tight fit but ive seen it done, 3 up like this would work better. By the way what woofers and amps do you have??

Yea. That is how I want to do it. I was just wondering about SQ when facing up as opposed to towards the hatch. I have Audiobahn AW1251Q subs and Legacy LA770 amplifiers.

Facing the subs twards the rear has been known to give you a 3+dbs. How many of those amps do you have?

Just Some Info: The subs mounting depth is 5 1/4" (how deep), the hole you need to cut for each is 10 7/8", and the diameter for the sub is 12".

EDIT: Do you know the ratings, like the bridged output @ how many ohms, etc...

No sorry... thanks for the measurements. I have 2 of those amplifiers. If it weren't snowing I would go out and look at the amps and help out a bit more, but I don't think that is necessarily important at the moment.

Check my pic again. Doing 2up 2down, will make fitting the subs eaiser, you get to have 2 facing the hatch, it would look cool two.

Thats not a bad idea at all... I need warm weather =P. I want to start building this thing.

Yea I know how you feel, the weather up here has just began to get warmer, its suppose to get to 60 today in my area of VA.

That was how it was for us in Indy yesterday until about 4 pm then it stormed and went down like 20 degrees in a short time period. Thanks for the ideas. Its a shame only 2 different people posted. I guess not many people have 4-12" subs... ha...

Its actually been a slow week around the fourms. If you need help (usually very quickly) check out Dead Link Removed

This is pathetic, but don't we want to keep this on the first page incase someone else has something to say?

just built my box for my 4- 12" ma audio xe's, being short on funds i gave em each 1.25 ft3 sealed, the box is ~52"wide, 13.5" high, and ~19.5" deep. It sits on top of the wheelwells, and is even with the back seat heighth wise. Still have to build my false floor in the back. once again not enough money..... All 4 subs are straight across the back pointin back. Ill have pics up at some point.

I would say to just make sure, whatever design you go with, that all subs are facing same direction because if two go one way and two go completely the opposite way there will be sound cancellation.

Best case scenario is to do a horseshoe shape facing towards the rear lift gate. I can give you more details if you are interested.
