ok taxxman2k, how EXACTLY did you do it? i mean which way did you lift it, if any? and how long will this take? cause i went and got them today, an there sittin in my garage. anybody can help me out that has the 4-door leafs on their Sports. i just need to know how to unload the pressure on my mono-leafs.

The best thing to do is to lift it from the frame NOT the suspension or axel. I lifted mine at the trailer hitch. It will take a large jack and possibley some blocks. once it is up take the wheels off and then you can drop it a little if you like (remember use jack stands for safety). Your springs should now be bowed out and just hanging there. losen the U-bolts and put stands under the axel. Now you can drop it a little more and the axel will stay on the stands but be above the springs so you can work. now you can unbolt the springs from the frame and shackles. Be carefull and make sure no pressure is on the springs so they don't pop out. Once they are out repeat the process to put the new ones on. Again be very careful and make sure you take your time. If this is your first time, plan on it taking at least half of the day. If you do not feel comfortable doing this, take it to a shop.

yes it is my first time, but im prob gonna have 2 of my friends help me, so what would we be lookin at time frame wise? i was kinda hopin to do it in maybe 3-4 hours or less. cause there takin up a lot of space in my garage.

TarHeel -- where did you get them and what did you pay? I am thinking about looking around here in the Phoenix area for a set. You shouldn't have any problem getting them done in 3-4 hours with one friend. The second might get more in the way than help though.

Yea, you should be alright in 3 - 4 hours. I found mine at a junk yard for $100.

same here i got em for $80 at a local salvage yard. good luck on the search, it should be fairly easy since the X is the most popular SUV on the market. you would think at least.

Yeah, SUVs are great for buying used parts. They are so common and so many people don't know how to drive that the parts are all over the place!

Hey Tarheel,

I just noticed you claim to have painted your calipers. What type of paint do you use for that? Doesn't it heat up and peel off?

uh i got 500 degree engine paint from wal-mart. i just took it out last night after painting them. i havent noticed any peeling, i figured the calipers shouldnt ever get above 500 so, ill let ya know later on after ive gone a couple of places in it.
