Hi i have an 86 sas ranger the guy who put the lift together put stacked blocks and shackles in the rear (2 inch factory block and 3 inch block 1 inch shackle) i want to get rid of at least one block or both or one block and one shackle. I cant seem to find a 4 inch aal. what factory springs from another car can i run? How about explorer springs? Thanks in advanced. Also i did search and didnt find anything.... I hate when people just ask without searching! haha:rangerred:

..You will probably be looking at have springs re-sprung (don't last), a custom leaf pack built (Big Bucks), or you could do some searching and possibly find a solution using chevy or f-series leafs with AAL and warrior shackles perhaps..:dunno:

..Hopefully an early gen Ranger or BII owner that is more familiar with these options will jump in to help you while you are searching the sub forums for answers..:D

exploder springs will get a ranger about 1.5" from what im told.
with the f150 leaf addition, which is 1.5" and a stock feeling ride for an exploder. with those combined id imagine it would lift the ranger 3" and still have a good ride. never read anyone doing both those combinations at once, so i really dont know. but it makes sense to me

that was my main question.... i have always wondered about putting explorer leafs on. I have a parts explorer sitting here waiting for my motor swap so i better take those too.

Don't know if they're still made, but a few years back, I bought a used set of 4" lift leaf spring sets from somebody on the forum. I think they are Skyjacker, but they may be Superlift.

If the stock Explorer springs fit and give ~1.5" of lift, I would guess that lift springs for an Explorer would give their lift plus the same 1-2" of lift. Seems like 4 inch Explorer springs would do the trick and lift 5-6", eliminating both blocks and possibly the shackle as well.

Otherwise you could just get lift springs for a Ranger.

Yea i was mostly looking for a cost effective way maybe chevy springs that swap straight in but i may look into some lift leafs im just tired of spring wrap and the embarrassing blocks haha.

If it were me I would cough up around $500-600 bucks for a set of Deaver Springs. Nothing rides better. Although they are not good for towing, the packs are not progressive.

Just my 2 cents

I just put the rear leafs from an 88 f150 on my explorer. Got 3 1/2" of lift. Had to redrill the perch holes forward 2" so the axle wouldnt hit my gas tank and make a relocation bracket for the brake line where it attaches to the top of the pumpkin.
