I had an experience at Les Swabb here in Wash. State
a franshise tire company. They sold Tuff brand lift kits
and installed them. The price $1250 to install and included the alignment as well. We threw in 30X15X10
and some stock black steel spoke rims bringing up the total to just over 2000.
The interesting thing about the install is we got more
lift in the front than what was expected. We were sitting
in front about 5inch plus and the rear was a little low
about the prescribed 4inch as advertised. We got a stadium truck look with the rear a little low. Its not a bad look infact my son loves it. The tires actually look good in the wells. I was a little worried it would diminish
the tire because of the lift but that just isnt the case.
I'm sure it would fit 33's no problem.

Question.

Why would you lift it 4 inches just to run 30 inch tires when explorers can run them stock?

if 33s will fit... why didnt you put them on? 30s are puny.... my 31s look puny....

I'm with them. If you want a 4" lift, then put on 33" tires.:D

Keep in mind, the front won't stay high forever. They are tall new, because the truck will level out as the new springs are broken in.

I just called Four West. Down here in this part of Southern California they are regarded one as one of the most respected four-wheel drive centers around.

I asked the guy about a TT and shackle lift, because I do not have allot of money, would like a 1-2" lift, and haven't done any work on cars since the 70's

What he said was they would not do or even recommend a TT and Shackle lift because even a small lift 1-2" lift would cause problems with the axles. Then he said they would do a 4" full body lift for $1400 parts and labor included with a full warranty on parts and labor.

The only reason I was interested in a 1-2" lift is I have 31X10.5 15's BFG AT/KO's and have a little rubbing on a thin spline down the driver's side once in awhile. Especially when we get a little air under the front tires.

I guess I am going to have to live with the minor rubbing until I can afford an older a full size Bronco to use as our off road toy.

Dude, why don't you just do the TT and shackle lift? It's no big deal. Who cares what "so and so offroad" says? Hundreds have done it on this site with very few problems.

Man I don't know much about the newer explorers but i am pretty sure you can do the TT, Shackles and 3inch Body Lift for a heck of allot less then $1400. I would not recomend and I don't think any Offroad shop should recomend a 4 inch body lift. Thats just asking for touble in my opinion.
