4 vs 2 door towing

IS there any reason why a 2000 sport is rated at 1000 lbs less than a 4 door with the same gears and stuff? My truck is rated at 9000 total lbs, but the 4 door is at 10 000 lbs.

sports have 1 leaf spring vs 4dr 4 leaf spring pack. Install 4dr leaf springs in the sport for same towing Cap.

The longer wheelbase helps in handling the tow as well.

Right. Don't fool yourself into thinking a spring change will give you more towing capacity. Too many other things could be involved. If it was only the springs, they would likely include the spring upgrade in the HD tow package.

Yea its only 1000 lb difference, so its no big deal. I did see an owners manual for a gen 1 and there 2 adn 4 doors were rated the same (9500 lbs gcwr)
