Hello everyone,
Bought my Trac 2 months ago with a little less than 22,500 on it when I bought it. I put on 1350 miles. It is a 2005 4WD Auto.
4 WD had been quiet and seemed fine since I bought it. But, a couple of weeks ago in the snow I shifted from 2 WD to 4 WD Hi (my 4wd Hi light came on) and I immediately noticed a rumble of sorts (not unlike another motor running). When the pavement got better I shifted back to 2 WD (my 4WD light went out - as normal), but the rumbling continued. I tried stopping - going to neutral - slowly flipping the switches, etc. - when I moved forward still seemed like I was still in 4WD. It goes away if I stop and back up. The truck was fine in 4WD previously. The Dealer says their Ford Specialists looked at it and say, "its normal". I don't think it is but I may be wrong.
PLEASE - Any opinions or help? The warrantee is up when I bring it home from the dealer.
