4 wheel drive light does not come on

When I press my 4 wheel drive button nothing happens. I hear a clicking noise but no light and it does not feel like it engages at all, but I can hear a click. This happens in neutral at full stop and while moving. What do I need to check?

i had the same prob, it sounds like the t/c motor is not shifting. there are post's in here about how to fix it. i did it and mine is working great.

give that a look at and see if it is similar. it was a easy fix for the 500 bucks ford wants as a replacement.

I checked out the link you recommended on the transfer case theory. I will try that out this weekend and give you a heads up. After reading the symptoms of the other survivors, I believe I have the same situation. Must be why so many are converting to manual 4x4. I will stick with the auto for now and pray that this remedy wroks. Thanks a million

not sure if it is the hubs thats your prob
i haven't changed mine yet
but the t/c motor was apparent just as described from many other peeps. 1 hr to fix and easy too
