The 4 wheel drive light and the check engine light was on. I took my 2006 Explorer to the dealer and they reset the lights and they said nothing was wrong. I drive off and a few miles later the light comes back on. I really want to get this fixed. The truck only has about 58000 miles on it and everything else works great. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this problem and what they did to solve the issue?

The ABS light is currently on. I just ran a scan and it says there are no codes. When driving sometimes the wrench light and the 4 wheel drive light comes on and goes off.
Anything you can tell me that would assist would be greatly appreciated.

If I remember right there was a problem with the ABS in the 2006 model year and seeing a TSB about it which I can't seem to find. I think it said to replace the ABS module. I remember it having a trouble code with it however. It still could be the issue. Thats where I would start. Have you taken it to a shop to have them plug it into a laptop to see whats going on?

ABS with a wrench light and an occasional 4x4 indicator makes me think that you have a wheel speed sensor issue in which the vehicle thinks that one of the rear tires is slipping and engages the front tires. It could also be that you have a damaged ABS tone ring or the ring is no longer pressed all the way on and slipping somehow?
The TSB that Asull is referring to is 06-6-9 but only applies if you have DTC
C1440 along with the warning lamps. So in your case with no DTC's it is not the ABS module.

Thanks for the info, as soon as I get a chance I will check the ABS rings on the trucks rear and I will let you know what I find. Thanks again.

I had this problem a few weeks ago. Turned out the wheel speed sensor cable got crimped up towards the A-arm. Replaced the cable and problem solved.
