Need help

Just received my remanufactured case halfs from OMEGA for the Borg Warner 4405 and they look and weigh different than what I originally pulled from my vehicle

I have a 99 Ford ex sport with the following info on the T-case first and second half:
44-05-065-910
44-05-039-909

What was sent to me by Omega weighs a lot less and has a different pattern inside which looks like it will not work when I reinstall the internal parts from my old t-case

Part numbers on the one that was shipped to me:

44-05-065-908
44-05-039-907

It looks like I have an aluminum case which is why it weighs more? I also do not have a speedo hole in mine but the shipped one does.

Was I sent a completely wrong part? Also, If mine is in fact aluminum, do even need to get the remanufactured case halfs? I thought the problem was with the magnesium soft metal cases..... My shift fork was snapped in half which is why I figured the case halfs were bad.

Any ideas/help appreciated. Stuck with a bunch of new internal parts and no where to go

Anybody with info on this greatly appreciated

Turns out I have the aluminum t-case and was shipped the rebuilt magnesium unit that has the speedo gear hole (mine doesnt) and a slightly different design inside.

Do I keep the aluminum case halfs and rebuild on that? Does the aluminum t-cases have the same warping as the magnesium ones?

Any help advise appreciated

Question: Do your old cases have "ovaling" at the shift rail bores? That is one of the issues addressed by the OMEGA halves. Also I believe there is some reinforcement done at the main bearing, and an insert for the pump tab. The ovaling can be repaired by any competent machinist. Problem I see you have is the speedometer hole. Makes no sense to use the wrong case, you would have to cover that hole somehow. If you do in fact have ovaling, you could get a local machine shop to fix that. That's my two cents worth.

Will have to check again but I didnt see any ovaling. I figured that there would be since the shift fork arm snapped off. Any other way that could have happened?

The aluminum case halfs seem to be stronger....

Thanks for the info

Dave

Dave, look at the holes, and take the shift rail and put it in each hole. The rear one especially. You can notice if the holes are worn. More precise measuring would be good too.

Yup - did just that and found a lot of play on both sides......

shame they sent me the wrong halfs

looking at a local shop

Wish I could press them in myself but the work looks very detailed with drilling and finding the right bushings
