this maybe late,,

i have done , the 4406 swap,, and to make it simple,, fyi to everyone.. you need the transfer case from a 1998 or so expedition needs to be the (tod, 4wd,auto4wd,4wd low)

you will need both driveshafts from the same truck...

on the case you need to cut off all tabs around case, remove the shift motor.
and mod your fuel tank bracket by cutting off the lower section of bracket..

your front drive shaft from expedition,, need to be pulled aprt, and cut 1/2 inch off the splines..this gains all the room needed to install it.. ( you will still need the conversion u-joint part number 1-0134)

transfer case,, you do the brown wire, mod but hook up a switch and relay to power the brown wire.. this way no linkage needed...

only a switch mounted inside.. to turn 4x4 high on...

if you plan on needing the 4wd low,, you will need to fab a linkage for that.. simple to do.. or get the shifterr knob for where the shift motor mounted..

by going this route, this conversion costed me, less than 250$ in parts from my local junkyard....

if any questions ,, email me @ venomservices@gmail.com
i would be more than happy to answer.. and send pics, of completed fitting

^ I went part for part off of that link and it was trouble free! The only thing was was different was the front u-joint. Auto Zones new number is 1-0134DL

I did the swap in the summer following that thread, so happy I did it !

I cant wait to do it myself im just saving my money up and looking for junkyards hard to find in my area maybe im just not looking in the right places haha

I did the same swap, and followed the parts list on the sticky thread.

I went with a manual shift t-case, but I used a shift mechanism from a bronco (we think) and fabbed a handle. It has worked great through many hours of off roading.
