he ya'll i have a 2dr sport and i have been wanting to do the 4dr leaf spring conversion. however, my dad is worried about not being able to align axle and wants me to get those heavy duty shocks with the coil springs on them. i was wondering if i sould try and convince him to let me do the 4dr conversion or if the coil spring shocks are the way to go.

thanks,

Davis

those heavy duty shocks are called coilovers and no you should not do that, it would be way too much money and too much of a hassle fabbing everything up to install. the 4 door leafs will work fine.

not being able to align axle?

Does your dad know anything about vehicles? Because his theory of installing struts or coilovers makes no sense. Installing either would require massive custom fabrication (basically re-designing the entire rear suspension from scratch), and properly aligning the axle after that would become an issue.

Swapping in 4-door leaf packs are plug-n-play. There are no alignment issues to be concerned about.

yes it is to fix the sagging issue. so i plan on doing the swap....he jsut needs some more convincing thats all. thanks for the support in the fact that the 4dr lraf pack is the way to go.

ive tried looking for the leaf springs online, i dont really wanna goto a junkyard and get some banged up one, anyone know any alternatives or websites that may have the 4 door leafs??? thanks

the classified section of this one, im sure there are some there or you probably have to go through ford to get replacment 4 door ones if you want them new but it will cost you some $$$$$

I bought my F150 leaf packs from them. I'm pretty sure they'd have complete sets of 4dr Explorer springs too. They weren't the cheapest option, but much better than buying some old, possibly already sagging springs from a junkyard IMO.
