1999 Ranger 4x4
Finally have to ask for help.

I have a '99 Ranger, 3.0L, 4x4. 4r44e problems.
No signs of life from the trans, no noise, no movement, nothing.
I have replaced the valve body gasket, original was blown out.
I have a completely different valve body in it now.
All the solenoids check out ok on the meter and the shift engagement rod is on the manual valve.
The shift lever on the console does move the engagement rod
I can roll the truck as if its in N in all the gears except P.

I believe I read that if the TPS (throttle position sensor?) is bad that can keep a auto trans from working.
I have dropped the pan 3 times now and am loosing my enthusiasm.

Looking for some direction to go next before i pull the trans out and do a complete tear down and rebuild.

thanks

No engagement will not be any kind of sensor or solenoid, you should be able to get a forward gear and reverse even if you unplug the transmission.

The first thing to check would be the pump, if you have a gauge you should install it to see if you have any pump pressure, if no gauge the check the level of fluid with the engine off then with the engine running, the level should be lower with the engine running if not the pump is not working.

The trans is topped off with NAPA Mercron V, fluid is good.

It was a free truck, had to pull home, was doing the no reverse, not shifting thing.
When I initially dropped the pan the original fluid looked good too, not burned or full of shavings.
The valvebody gasket was blown out, changed it. Nothing. Changed the valvebody and checked the solenoids. Nothing.
Manual engagement rod is engaged.
Doesn't make any kind of whining noise or any kind of movement.
