Working thru some tranny issues, installed the new seperator plate, shift solenoids and ECP. Now it's time for a filter on the cooler return line but I don't know which is the in or out. Upper line is at 45 degrees and goes to the external cooler, lower line is straight out and goes to the upper radiator tank. I checked the online manuals, saw the ports but they aren't identified. Or should I just fire the beast up and see which squirts fluid the farthest on my already messy driveway?

Thanks.

The line that comes out of the bottom of the radiator is the return.

makes sense to me

OK, the line at the bottom of the radiator goes to the external cooler in front of the radiator then on to the top port in the tranny. That's the one angled at about 45 degrees.
thanks
