This is my first post but I have been reading the forums for a while now.
Please help with Direct Clutch removal...
I have 97 f150 4.2 2wd. I have removed my tranny (4r70w) to hopefully fix the problem of having no 3rd or 4th gear. I have had it tested and looked at before I took it off and every shop said it needed a rebuild. So I decided to take it off myself and check it out.
Everything looks like new so far, except for the direct clutch pack that I can see, but I cant get it out of the tranny. I can see bad wear on it and even the piston above it is caked with nasty fluid that looks more worn then the other fluid.
My question is:
How do I remove the direct clutch? I have removed the tc, pump, the first batch of plates. Now it is just the shaft and the last bunch of gears left ( direct clutch) and it wont pull out. It is very loose and will move around but wont come out. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Any advice on replacing this or help with the whole rebuild would be greatly appreciated.
