I own a 1998 5.0 explorer with 175,000 miles. Every shift is soft and smooth. If I floor it from a stop, the engine will rev to 4800 then it takes one second to change from first to second.
My sister also has a 98 5.0 with 124,000 miles. When you floor it from a stop it lurches forward hard. Revs to 4800 then snaps into second hard. It is smooth when you are not flooring it.
Is there something wrong with either of the transmissions?
I want my shift to be harder should i get a shift kit?
