I just rebuilt my 4R70W out of a 1996 Explorer 5.0L.
The rebuild seemed to go just fine with the help of the rebuild diary on here.
I also added the TransGo shift kit and followed those directions and added the appropriate springs, drilled certain areas, etc. That all seemed to go just fine.
I put the transmission back in the truck, filled it with fluid, fired it up and took it for a test spin.
It starts out in first gear OK but when shifting out of first, the transmission will hesitate and the engine rpm will go up 800-1000 more than normal before shifting into second, thus causing it to slam hard into second gear because of the high RPM. All the other gears seem to be normal including OD and reverse.
Does anyone know what would be causing this and how to fix it? I really hope I don't have to pull the whole thing out again!
