I’ve recently aquired a 4R70W out of a 3.8L ‘01 Mustang to be transplant into a classic mustang. I’ve broken it down for insp and found it to be in mostly good condition. I‘m planning on numerous upgrades (i.e. spiral ring, OD pin with o-ring, new OE ford direct drum, sonnax HC billet forward drum, new electronics, Jmod) and currently looking for a quality “Deluxe Master Rebuild Kit”.
I’m somewhat concerned about vendors cheaping out and sourcing less than quality parts from overseas, therefore looking for guidance on quality manufactures/parts for the following.

- KOYO 7 PC 4R70W BEARING KIT TBK-F6.
- I understand these trunnion bearings are USA made from a reputable company, are these the preferred…?
- How does Sonnax’s bearing kit compare…?
- DURABOND SEAMLESS 4R70W 15 PC BUSHING KIT TK-3.
- Well known USA bearing manufacture. These are bi-metal seamless bearings, are these preferred over split seam…? On a different forum I believe I read these babbits gal easily, what does that say about cam bearings. So confused.
- Are split seams that much better, who’s a good manufacture/source…?
- Dan Gilsdork has mention bronze brass are best. Where can one source these…?
- 1-2 & 3 Accumulators, and Reverse/Overdrive Servos
- Looks like Ford still makes these albeit at a premium price, are there better options other than overseas crap.
- From a little internet sleuthing seems I located a USA manufactur, National Seals. Are these equal to FORD
