most of you know what i mean when talking about the 4wd and 4wd low switches on an auto 1st gen. The little black square panel with two long thin push button switches. I personally think its a rather ugly to display such awsome power and have been trying to find someone with the knowhow of the wiring behind it. I want to run 2 safty cap switches (to match my others) but i doubt i would be able to get one with the correct wiring input/output setup. Anykind of toggle switch would be sweet anyways, and i can custom make the switch panel so im not worried about that. I popped mine off and there are 4 wires coming off each switch. Im thinking pos, neg, ground (for light in switch) and a computer wire? If anyone knows something let me know.

You could always just get rid of that stupid button 4x4 thingy and just buy a manual transfer case like it should have been built in the first place. That would be a lot better i think. :D

I do believe they are momentary contact. This would make replacing them with toggles a little more tricky. If you hunt around on the net you can find how to use a toggle as momentary

going with thefox atlas 2

mmm Atlas 2, I just missed one a friend was selling, he let it go for 1200 DAMN

According to the test procedure linked to below, you only need to worry about three wires (see section on 5-wire connector): one common, and one each hi and low.... pins 1, 2, and 3. Pins 4 & 5 feed back to the indicator lights. And they are indeed momentary switches. I'll see if I can find a reference to wire colors.

good call rookie, of course the nerds of the world provide again. Toggle to Momentary No if only i could find a picture of the wiring harnesses, and i would be on my way.....
