OK, yes I'd rather have a manual 4wd but, well, I'm not ready to put that kind of money into a '93. I do want to keep my Ranger going a few more years therefore I'm looking for advice on replacing the dash component that the 4x4 and Low buttons are mounted in. The previous owner must have had issues getting the 4wd engage and figured pushing the buttons harder would do it. Anyone got experience with locating the parts and doing the replacement? Thx

yep- i just looked on ebay. Its around 9 bux.

Do you know for sure that the button(s) are no good? You should also check out the shift motor on the t-case...once they get too dirty they have a tendency to crap out. There's a detailed thread on the board here of how to clean it.

Actually the 4wd is working fine, the problem is the guy that owned the Ranger before me did have problems and must have figured the harder you push the buttons the better chance it will work. The result is the mounting for the buttons is broke away from the dash. This is more cosmetic than function.

I'd just goto the wreckers and pull out a set. I have 3 or 4 lying around that I had grabbed for various reasons. I think they all cost me $4 a piece?
