4wd light on no 4wd and speedometer is wrong

4wd low light flashes and my speedometer does not read properly when it is flashing. When this first started the truck would not go any faster than 10 mph I pulled over and kept trying to switch it into 4wd and it freed everything up the light is still on and I tried to put it into 4wd drive and it won't engage could this be the 4wd switch is bad or a sensor on the trans

what year vehicle are you driving? the year will help us determine what kind of transfer case you are running and where your speed sensor is. my bet is on a fautly speed sensor on the transfer case. but some more information would be helpful
