help, i have a 94'xlt. The 4wd began acting funny right after i bought it from my uncle. when he had it he slid into a curb on ice and cracked a rim but the front end shop didn't find any other problems. Then i started using 4wd more this past winter and it started taking tow pushes of the 4wd button to come on then when I tried putting it in4wdLo all the 4wd light on the dash went out. I couldn't tell whether it was di engaged or not

It did this for awhile no it won't turn on at all, I push the button for 4wd and i hear a clicking noise but then nothing happens.
Other than that it drives perfect, please help I'm a full time student and don't have alot of money on hand to replace every component of the front drive train to see if it works
thanks Trey

Shift motor

Seems like a classic case of dirty shift motor, try doing a search with shift motor and/or 4x4 not working. Last winter ther was a lot of these motor going out. Try cleaning it before buying another one (very expensive).
