I have a 97 Exp, and 2 days ago, the lights (4X4 and 4 Low) started blinking. I tried to engage the transfer case (I have to turn the switch) and nothing happened. I tried to tap on the motor, which works on my F-150, but it still dosen't work. Anyone have an idea how solve this problem.

I read some of the other postes, and I do not have any window problems.

Welcome to the site, did you by chance count the number of flashes? Typically the 4x4 lights will flash when the GEM detects some sort of fault whether it be a hall effect sensor or any other sensor.. I believe some of the Snap-on or equivalent scanners can read 4x4 codes but unfortuantely some of the regular code scanners can't.. I would start by removing the shift motor from the transfer case and see if it'll power on and shift out of the t-case.. If it doesn't it may be as simple as a bad shift motor..
