93 sport & 4 door
I have a 93 4 door 4x4. I have not been able to get the 4x4 to work in this truck for some time. Since got some free time and before winter hits,Id like to get it figured out. Couple weeks ago I threw on new manual hubs.

Here is my problem though. The 4x4 buttons dont have the green glow as everything else when the lights are turned on. Im thinking this is my problem as to why my 4x4 isnt working but cant figure out what to do.

Things I have done are, Tested the module ( it passed). Rebuilt the shift motor last year. Ive tried different buttons that i knew worked and still nothing. I use to have a 93 sport and swapped out that. I also grounded out the grey and brn/wht wire and the amber lights came on the button and the 4x4 came on dash.

I Also have tried doing ohms test and short for grounds but dont quit understand it and its been driving me nuts lol. Well appreciate any and all help i can get, Thanks in advace

You module tested itself and thinks it's OK. It may not be. Borrow one from someone and try it.

Well today I went an toke the control module out. Once out the fender well I noticed something in there rattling around. I toke it apart and it was the round red thing on the corner of the board (its about size of nikel). So broke out the soldering iron and got it back on the board. Now when I tried the self test you hear it click as you push the button and blinks 4x. Still no lights on the 4x4 push button. So guess gonna have to fork over 20 bucks at bone yard to see if another one will fix it or not

Well got 2 control module and both passed the self test and done same as mine. When 4x4 button is pushed = nothing happen nor sound from module. Also still no interior lights on the 4x4 buttons. Like to add this truck had an alarm when I got it but toke it out. Before doing so it done the same thing so no change. Im sure once figure out why not getting interior lights on the 4x4 button that will solve my 4x4 issue. Where should i began??

Toke shift motor off and tested it, when 12v is applied to the yellow and orange the motor engages. so thats working

Does anyone know what voltage/ resistance the wires from the actual 4x4 push button should be? Also what wire/ 's provide power for the interior lights on the switch to light? Believe once solve that problem my 4x4 will work.

If this is in wrong thread please move to correct one!

Also for you people that know how to use a ddvm. I disconnected my positive batt cable. Unhooked my 4x4 button and set my ddvm to ohms where has sound. I grounded the black lead and probed each wire coming out the dash.

White/blue= ol Blk=ol
Blue =ol Red/yellow=0002
orange/blue=ol grey=0008
blue/red=0001 brown/white=0008

Does this tell you anything?

Don't know what I did but my 4x4 is working but the interior light on the buttons are not. I can live with that since i do have 4 wheel now
