4x4 explorer front end conversion

so as of now i have a 1992 ford explorer and i want to replace the front end diff/ i beams with a solid axel. i want to go used and modify the gears and axels myself. what would be the best vehicle to do the swap from. i want something that takes little motifacations. any help would be much appreciated. thank you.
