ok i am new to all this 4x4 stuff can i drive with my manual hubs in lock position around town and on the high way with out it hurting anything?? IF not how do i get in to 4x4 while moving under 55mph? i have only needed 4x4 so far in parking lots and if i come across a snow or ice coved rd i pull over and get out and lock the hubs...but its getting old now so i am hoping i can leave them locked and beable to just push the 4x4 when do i use 4x4 low?

No harm (other than a little lost gas mileage and a little increased wear on the front drivetrain) in leaving the hubs locked while driving around in 2H. Some people in snowier climates will lock the hubs in November and leave them locked until March or April.

yes you can drive around in 2wd with your hubs locked. remember that all the locking hubs do are connect the axle shafts to the wheel. your front driveshaft does not engage till you press the 4hi button.

yea i live in hagerstown md its kinda of in the mountains and it seems to snow alot here and i dont want to have to keep getting out of my truck to lock them but i hate auto hubs...when do i use 4lo?

high range is fine for driving on snowy roads where youre going to be at speed. 4 low is used when you need even more torque multiplication than high range. aka if you slide off into a ditch and/or you crawl in the rocks. You need to be in neutral and under 3 MPH to engage low range. you will notice it performs differently than high range.

to be in 4 high i have to put it in neutral while i am driving then push the button right? If not please explain..sry for being a pain ing the butt but i will get this stuff down packed one day...lol

no, 4hi can be switched while in gear up to about 55 mph i think (dunno why youd be shifting into 4 wheel drive at that speed though). that's why the RBV 4x4 system is referred to as a "shift on the fly" system.

hope i wont need 4x4 at 55mph in the snow.....Sounds like a bad day waiting to happen!!
