Hi I just picked up my first truck a 94 Navajo automatic. I really like it, riding up high and the feel of a solid truck. My other car is a lowered stripped and supercharged Miata track car, aweful on any paved surface other than a race track.
Whats the simplest way to test the 4x4 system to see if its working?
So far I have started the car engaged 4x4 high with the pushbutton and reached underneath and grabed the shaft coming out of the t-case and it took about 1 turn to get it to engage where it locks. So I know my case is working and shifter motor.
Next I took it out to a dirt road left it in 2wd and pressed the gas firmly and got alot of rear tire spin. Then I put it in 4wd hi moved a few feet forward to engage and hit the gas less rear tire spin than before, it accelerated slightly faster seemed like less wheel slip. I know its not a scientific test but does that prove the 4x4 is working? I select 4lo and the engine revs very high.
I have put it in 4x4 on dry pavement but went very slowly and kept the wheel straight, made alot of groining noises.
