4x4 high and low flashing losing power gauges going crazy

Ok im new here my names is jesse iv owned and fix many rangers and this is sonething i havent came across. I just bought a 94 ford ranger 4.0 4x4 5speed for next to nothing. Motor was set up i replaced motor. Gages wernt working right charging system wasnt working so i thought maby i wasnt getting a good ground to the motor. So i ran a new ground for the motor at first it fixed the gage problem battery is charging now but the 4x4 not working. Hasbt since i put the motor in. But i dont know any history on this truck. So what is happening is. Start the truck up everything is looking ok then gages start flickery and going all over "battery, oil pres, temp, sometimes fuel but not all the time. The 4x4 lights all of them at the same tine will flicker including indicator lights for the 4x4 buttons "speraticly". I sonetines lose power to the motor give it any gas and it wants to die turn headlights on it dies. Now the truck dies on me will not start try to start and all the gages move when i try but it wont even turn over i keep hitting the key to start i can get it to start normaly after i get out and mess with the wireing harness. I get it started still gages act funny. But then i move the truck and before i know it everything starts working. But 4x4 still wont work i can push the bitton and no lights come on nothing happens. I havent had much time to look into this just got the truck friday got the motor saturday and had it in sunday so havent had much time to look into things. Sorry for the long post figured more details i give the bettor solution i may get
