4x4 Issues

So I when i went to flip on my 4x4 today nothing happened! :scratch:
I try it in park, neutral, and drive and it doesn't even click. No light, nothing. could this be a fuse? It worked fine last week.

Could be as simple as a fuse, bad switch or electric module on the back side of the transfer case. Chase down and check these things in this order. Let us know what you find.

Do you know what fuse it could be? I have a little tester somewhere.

It should be listed in the factory manual in the glove box, if you don't have that do a quick search for it. Sorry, mines an '03 and I'm pretty sure their different fuse numbers. Hopefully someone will chyme in on this that knows the exact fuse number.

Pop off the right side kick panel and disconnect/reconnect the 4x4 module connectors a couple of times. The terminals are bad to oxidize and lose connection. But as Jerry stated, check the fuses first.
2001 model is F1.13(20A) in the battery junction box and F2.35(15A), F2.10(7.5A) & F2.11(7.5A) in the central junction box.

I turned the 4x4 knob tonight just to check if anything would happen and it engaged, is this normal for those problems? I haven't found the time to check it yet but ill try this weekend.

It is common for the shift motor on the side of the t-case to fail, especially if it is not engaged very often. You can replace that by itself without the whole t-case. I lock mine in about once a month and drive straight down the street for a block or two just to exercise it.

It's been very fickle lately. It will listen to me when it wants to. I really think its the corrosion issue. I'm going to try to fix or at least locate the problem today since I'm out for thanksgiving. Haven't had the time to check it at school.

Well i tried everything and it looks like my shift motor is the culprit. I guess I'm not surprised since it is eleven years old.
