4x4 light blinking

99 xlt..3 problems occured at the same time: dome light stopped working, power windows stopped working and 4x4 high & 4x4 low light blinks 6 times every 2 minutes. Checked fuse in engine compartment, fine, same fuse also controls seat and seat works fine. Any suggestions?

All three items are controlled by your GEM (Generic Electronics Module). You said you checked the fuses so that would leave either a bad connection to the GEM or a bad GEM (they fail occasionally). The GEM is the small box mounted to the inside of the firewall behind the radio.

Welcome to the site Goldie. Sound like a GEM problem. It was recalled in the '99 models (due to the phantom wiper problem). Did you have the recall work done?
