Hi Explorers,
I have an XLT 1997 4X4 SOHC 6Cyl Explorer.
Recently when driving from work to house, the 4X4 Low was engaged automatically, i thought was my kid touching the 4X4 Selector switch, but not, it was really angaged automatically and the 4WD light was flashing.
I turned off the truck and the next day just after 30 minutes driving appeared the same behaviour, heard a sound like an explotion and was engaged again. This same problem started to appear every day, and there was no way to disengage it, it was 4WDLow all the time after several minutes of driving. The only way i found was to disconnect the shift motor beside of the transfer.
The questions,
Why happens this beheviour?
Is there some way to avoid it or fix it?
It is really dangerous, specially when driving at higher speed.
Thanks you a lot in advance.
