4x4 malfunction

This morning I woke up to 3 inches of snow. On my way out I locked my manual hubs and pushed my 4x4 button and nothing happened. I pryed open the console that houses the 4x4 and low range buttons and looked inside everything seemed to be hooked up. I then put it back in place and the 4x4 light came on for about 5 secs. It's probably about 12 degrees out here right now. Anybody got any input or ideas?
