ok.. i have searched and most of the 4x4 problems i found deal with the 91-94. mine is the control trac (BW 4405) on my 99 sport. would most of the same issues apply to mine as well?

on the last wheeling trip back in feb.. i couldn't get the truck into 4lo. 4high no problem. so i ran one day withough 4lo. next day was tougher so i had to get 4lo. i climbed under and jiggled the wires some a couple of times and unplugged/repluged the harness. well it went into 4lo when i tried after that. however, after the trail ended.. i couldn't get out of 4lo.. and had to repeat the jiggle wire technique. got home and tried again in the grass. it went into 4lo fine and out fine. the other day i'm pulling bushes up with the truck. 4lo works no problem one day.. doesn't the next. didn't work today (raining so i didn't do the jiggle wire).

just wondering if the same issues with the 91-94 could be my case.
can i take the motor apart to clean it or does this sound like a wiring problem? i looked at the wires and all seem good. the harness plugs LOOK fine, but i guess they could be bad. it acts like a short or something but i'm not sure. any help as to what all controls the engagement features of the t-case that could be my problem. is there a way to test the shift motor to see if its the problem? thanks guys.

The problem with and he procedure to clean the shift motor is the same as the '91-94. The connections just might be corroding, but if you do alot of offroading, it probably couldn't hurt to clean out the motor too. Other possible trouble spots could be the neutral switch or brake switch. If they goes bad, the TC doesn't know you are in neutral/pressing brake to be able to shift into Low.

hmm.. brake switch and neutral switch? i'll have to search some on that. i didn't know there were switches for these. are they in the tcase or on the motor or something?
thanks for the info.. i'll look for corrosion and clean the motor. i'm hoping its just the contacts on the wire harness...

Jason did you ever fix this problem or figure out the cause?
