4x4 Shifting issue

I purchased a 2005 FORD EXPLORER SPORT TRAC XLT and when I put it into 4x4 High the 4x4 light comes on and when I switch it over to 4x4 Low the 4x4 light still stays on but it dosn't say that it's in low is this normal or have I got a burnt out bulb. It appears that the 4x4 feature is operating okay in High and Low 4x4 mode. I would like to know where I can find what kind of regular service needs to be done on this vechicle with over 100.000 km on it.

Just wondering if you know you have to be in neutral to put it into 4x4 low? If your not in neutral it wont go also listen if you hear it engaging if not then you may need to check it out but it should have a 4x4 low light working when its engaged

In addition to shifting into neutral you also must apply the brake.

My 2004 did the same thing, but I switch it back to 2wd wait 3 seconds and move the selector back to 4LOW, usually does the trick. good luck

TO use 4x4 low you have to stop! put truck into neutral and have foot on brake petal. then you will hear it shift into low gear I wouln;t sugest this for pavement driving and only use it when you really neeed it because you will just tear it up and no 4x4 will work. Read your owners manual. good luck
