Wish I was closer to you guys. I would love to be a part of this. I only have a little bit of dez. racing experience including prepping a Class 8 and being pit support for local races and I am always looking to get more into the sport.

so who's really gonna be in if i do take up a collection? there's gonna be a lot to do, and we still gotta ask rick for permission. i'm sure he would love the exposure of a race truck with explorerforum down the side, but i gotta find out about the legalities and tax liabilities of that much solicited income....

I'm not going to go for anything that says we're donating to a charity. Too much of a potential problem with the IRS.

Tax wise we would need to set up a non profit corporation or limited liability corporation. That would include electing corporate officers. These are pretty simple steps. This will limit liability of the participants. If this pig is going to fly then someone needs ato be in charge, and we need a plan. Would this be a one time deal or would we want to do annual racing? What would happen to the race vehicle when the race is over?

We could sell stickers and proceeds would go to the corporation (team). Or we could raise funds with pledges from members.

As far as sponsors I am sure that our site sponsors would be willing to help the team if the team is willing to help them.

I will run with it. I am serious about racing every year, and can run team operations. we can share driving responsibilities, and i'm sure there will be no shortage of mechanical help. Someone else can act as treasurer, and no money will be spent without the forum being notified, as the donaters are the owners. That way we don't have any scandals, and this can be an enjoyable endeavor.
