5.0 alternator same as 4.0?

Just wondering if the two are interchangable so I don't waste the money on a high amp for my 4.0 to have it not fit if i ever put a 5.0 in.

They mount differently... I've got a hi-po alt that has been setup for both a 5.0 and 4.0 and I've got 2 different front portions of the case, where the mounting points are
