5.0 and awd transmission in a 4.0 control trac?

Hey everyone, i'am new to this forum here so i thought id post my first question. I have a 97 xlt 4.0 with a shot transmission. I'm going to be getting a 95 5.0 awd parts truck. I plan on swapping the engine and transmission out of the parts truck. Will the awd transmission fit in the 97?

'95 5.0 Doesn't exist. I'd match the year to ensure wiring compatibility and emissions standards.

It is probably an Early `96 5.0L, built in 1995.

My `97 Parts Explorer was built in 10/96..but I have GT40P heads...

Yes the transmission will fit, body wise they're the same, it's a bolt in swap.

It was an early '96. I should be picking it up soon. I'm also going to need the wiring harness and ecu. What else will I need?

What you NEED to do is park them right next to each other.

Start swapping.

Take pictures. LOTS of pictures. From every angle. Use your ZOOM. Close up shots are most useful.

Pull the V6 first. Get everything out of there that is specific to the V6. Then start pulling the V8 parts and immediately install them into the old V6 Explorer.
