5.0 auto trans ?

Which trans is in the 5.0s. I blew the main input shaft seal as well as the pump seal and on the way back from the desert the trans started to slip so I am assuming that I possibly fried some clutches. I'd rather get a semi used trans off ebay or at a yard instead of having it rebuilt. Is it the 4R70W? I couldn't seem to find anything around about which trans is combined with each engine. Thanks for the help.

You'll also have to replace it with a 96/97 4R70W as well because the internal wiring harness in the tranny changed in 98. So where your 97 tranny harness plugs into the actual tranny, there will be different pin-out locations. In 98 they actually eliminated some pins to have less internal wiring.

Now, you can still run one of the newer trannies, but you will need to do some splicing on your harness. I am currently running a 99 tranny in my 96. I believe I am a diagram on my website under the AWD conversion section.
