4.0 auto trany to 5.0 auto trany swap

Well here is my question I have a 1998 sport 4.0 with a new top end heads, lifters, rocker arm sets, push rods ETC but the trany is starting to slip and here in a salvage yard they have a 2000 4-door with a 5.0 and auto trany with 63,000 miles and was wondering if the trany would work and also if I could reuse my shift kit. If so the trany is only 155 smackeroos Thanks.

The 4R70W from the 5.0L Ex will not work with your 4.0L. For starters, the bell housing bolt pattern is different, the electronic controls in the 4.0L PCM are incompatible and the wiring harness is different.

If you want to install the 5.0L engine along with the 4R70W, that is possible but you would need several other key components to complete the swap.

Ditto, the whole engine and much more would have to be swapped. I'd love to have that 4R70W for $155.
