Havent posted on here for a while.Word to the wise. If your getting a squeak up front that doesnt seem to be a belt or pullies, pull your cam sensor off and check for rubbing. Mine stopped and the check engine light came on.the magnet was wrapped up in the pickup that spins inbetween the magnet and the sensor, the rest was ground up. The magnet had been worn down and round. I should have taken pictures. The rest was ground up. Bent it all back, ground it smooth and put a new cap on. All is well now.

Yes, this fall I have the dreaded squeal on my 96 4.0 OHV, although on my engine it is unfortunately buried on the back of the engine, which means taking off the upper and possibly lower intake for access.

Seems cool weather brings out the squeal in the Cam Pos Sensor and/or Synch Gear when it starts to fail, my engine last winter would do it occasionally on startup, this year the squeal is back and more severe with the cooler weather.

The part is in the mail, I'm going at it next weekend.

Keep us posted, my 96 4.0 squeals also. Then goes away once its warm. I assumed it was the serp belt?

If the chirp/squeal is coming from the rear of the engine/firewall area on a 4.0 (I believe it's in the front of the engine on a 5.0, easier access), then it's probably the CPS.

Definitely will try to take some pictures when I change mine, which is back here in this pic:
