expo5.0 nailed it. 5.0's along with basically any V8 with duals need at least 2.5" pipes, otherwise your gonna be restricting the engine. You won't ever see a Mustang with dual 1.5" pipes:p

If you had dual 1.5" pipes you'd have one heck of a bumble bee/buzzy exhaust note on a V8. V8's move a lot of air and you need to be able to exhaust that air fast and efficiently which releases hidden power and torque becasue of the increased efficiency.

i agree, all V8 explorers should at least have 2.5" pipe. if you put anything less then that you will not have good exhaust flow so the motor cant run to the fullest extent.:p

well, I'm not changing anything until either I find a problem and fix it.. or get a supercahrger.. which ever extremley expensive problem I decide to go about 1st heh, so I'll just have to live wiht my rice exhaust

I don't know if I would chance a charger on your truck Darkfox with the way it runs, who knows, with your lemon of a truck you engine might completley self-destruct:D Although that would give you a better reason to swap in a supercharged 347;)

the reason why i said you have to take off the spare is because i have 3" stainless steel tips that are 24" long and they cant fit between the spare and the leaf!!!:p
Why did you go with 24" long tips? Also, where exactly do they come out under the bumper? The same place as mine in the pic above or closer to the middle?

well i went with 24' long tips because they look great, but i also get a good rummble. the tips are closer to the middle. the end of the tips only stick out about an 1" but when you look at the truck from the side you can see them clear as day. i havent seen a explorer set up the same ways as mine so thats why i went with 24" long tips:D MY TRUCK

wheelie bars! j/k they look pretty darn good! i can see how to do that you had to get rid of the spare. also, you must not really do any towing. i couldn't have that set-up because it would get in my way all the time.

thanks!! its something i really wanted to do. your right about the towing part. the only thing i tow is a 2002 yamaha 900 jetski:D

off topic - how do you like the 900? One of our neighbors was asking us (actually really me) about it, but I have never been on one.

Our jet boat (Yamaha LS2000) is at Riva Yamaha right now getting new pumps and a Yamah free flow exhaust on. Guess I'm stuck with using the Fountain:D . Our two skis are GP1200R's, sell your 900 for one of those babys!

The Fountain w/ twin 300's tops out at about 75, but I can hit 82mph on the 1200R w/ the mods on it, it's really sick. You'll be very happy if you get a 1200R;)

But anywaz, what do you think of the Yamaha 900? I'll just tell him what you said. Thanks.

Be careful going too big with the exhaust. I have a stock Explorer V8 in my 1999 Ranger and I have killed the low end torque. High end is awesome though:D

My Ranger has the FMS headers and a single 3.5" mandrel bent stainless exhaust system. This is from the CATS back. I feel the loss of back pressure has taken the torque away. I have done back to back comparisons with my 1998 Mountaineer V8 and the stock truck has more off idle.

So, just make sure you size your exhaust according to the state of tune you have or plan to have.

I went with 3.5" single, as it flows the same as dual 2.5" (9.6 vs 9.8 sqin area) and I intend to put a Kenne Bell supercharger on it in the spring. I just have to live with the lacking bottom end for a few more months.

well the yamaha 900 is nice its a three seater and moves right along. we were gonna get the 1100 but performance cycles didnt have any in stock so we made the choice to get the 900. its size is in the middle of big and small and can crusie at tops speed carrying 3 pasengers.:D

alright cool, thanks. About how fast does it go? I'm guessing somewhere around 50mph if it's a 3 seater with a 900cc engine. I don't think he really cares about speed, he's getting it for his Kids to use as the 3 seaters are a lot more stable and slower than the 2 seaters.

If your ever down in Fl, come over to my house and I'll give you a ride on the GP1200R, hehe, think 50mph is fast, try about 80mph on the water. I won't let my mom or sister go out on them unless I'm with them because they'll probably end up killing themselves with the power. With the exhaust and other stuff on it, mine sounds like a little V8, loud as hell, I've had cops follow me back to our dock b/c they probably thought I'd do something stupid.:D
