5.0 EXplorer vS ???

wow Clark only 8 posts and already labeled a jackas$. lol. not a great track record so far. a little advice for ya little buddy if you post something stupid expect your card to be pulled. Now if we can all sit down and talk like real civil adults again i would like to see the supra pictures too (if they do exist that is).

Just a thought: X's really weren't built for street racing. Hey, I like going red light to red light as much as the next guy, but 4,000 lb vehicles aren't the best racers.

Question: someone mentioned the "crappy cam" above. Would it be worthwhile to swap it? How much would that cost?

me The stock cam sucks big time.

Definitley worth while as about two months ago I met kid who had an e-303 cam installed in his Mounty with other bolt ons, it was damn quick, the torque increase was amazing.

Talk to expo5.0 as he runs the e-303 cam, James T also recomended the b-303 cam (can't remember if thats the correct #) from Comp Cams I think, he hasn't installed his if I remember......

Little labor intensive though, can't remember cost, but easily a couple hundred for the cam and install.

the cam is most definately worth the swap. and the cam itself tonly costs like what about $160 or so i think and then if you get a kit it could cost like about $250 or so depending on what is included. like Saleen and Expo have said before it is Very labor intensive. either you got to pull your whole front end off or you got to pull the engine. if you dont do it yourself the total cost could be upwards of almost $800 to close to $1000. but if you got a hookup that can do it for you or help you then by all means do it.

i also now have a total of 600 in parts into it to make it run right. but the total gains are huge

You can swap the cam by just taking the whole front of the truck off? I assume this includes the grille, hood, bumper, radiator and support and various things.
I can pull the front off myself, has anyone done this themselves (expo5.0) that can describe it in more detail.

well i'm not gonna go through everything you have to do to remove the entire front end, but yeah thats the idea. i didn't do the install myself either so i don't know all the little tricks and what not. however, i was there and sort of helped a little when i could and watched when my buddy did it. its nothing easy! and it really does take a lot of other things to get the most out of it.

No I have the 4.0 OHV but I have seen cams for that also. I probably wont ever do it, I am just entertaining the thought.
