5.0 mileage

Does anyone have a sound clip of the Dynomax cat-back on a 5.0? I am also interested in the Gibson, and the Magnaflow as I have heard these three are the most mellow sounding cat backs available for our trucks... Also where can I find the Magnaflow?

Don't have a sound clip, but I've got the Dynomax super turbo dual in/single out running through a 2.5" single pipe. Nice, low, deep, mellow.

The muffler shop strongly advised AGAINST a Magnaflow. As I had a magnaflow on my old Sport and hated it with a passion, I had no problems with the Dynomax suggestion.

I've also got a Mac CAI. It makes a nice "whhhiiiiiissssppppp" sound when you get on the the throttle ;)

Maybe the cat fairy needs to visit my truck...

my 5.0 came with a magnaflow when I bought it otherwise would have a dynomax for sure. I have had dynomax on 5 differant vehicle and have never regretted it. good mellow sound.

I have a 96 Explorer 5.0 with dual in/out Magnaflow muffler, 2 1/2" pipes, Torque Monster headers and it sound good. 3 1/2" slash tips. 160,000 mi

My girlfriends 00 Mountaineer 5.0 with dual in/out Flowmaster muffler, 2 1/4" pipes and stock cast manifolds sounds better. 3 1/2" slash tips. 85,000mi

Mileage, pipe size, muffler choice and manifolds all change how it sounds. Her car all together is better driving than mine. I like the chambered designed mufflers on big heavy vehicles. I have Magnaflow Magnapacks (straight-thru very small mufflers) on my 02 Mustang and it sounds sick, because it revs and accelerates so quick.(No cats= loud and nice)
